Watercolor Wednesday: Stormy Fields

There’s something captivating about a dramatic sky over a quiet countryside. In this Watercolor Wednesday class, we’ll paint a rustic barn nestled among rolling fields beneath a moody, storm-filled sky. This project is all about atmosphere, contrast, and learning how to tell a story through watercolor.

This class is best suited for those who have painted with watercolor before or have taken a class with us here at the studio.

We’ll begin with a brief warm-up before diving into our main project. Together we’ll create soft, layered storm clouds using wet-on-wet techniques, then build depth through rolling hills, golden fields, and a weathered barn. We’ll finish by adding expressive foreground grasses and a few ink details to bring the entire landscape to life. This class focuses on layering, value, and creating depth without overworking your painting.
